Roboto

Roboto — Google's flagship neo-grotesque sans-serif, designed for Android in 2011 and now the default UI face across the Material Design system, Google Workspace surfaces, and many Google product chromes. Distributed via Google Fonts as a variable font supporting weights 100–900 and both upright and italic styles.

Notes
Unlike most Google Fonts, Roboto is distributed under Apache-2.0 rather than the SIL Open Font License. The 2024 redesign introduced a variable-axis cut (wght, wdth) — only wght is surfaced as a variable axis here since wdth coverage is still incomplete in many runtimes.
